The event is policed by PSNI and volunteer stewards to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety for participants and spectators, St Johns Ambulance will be in attendance, Limited car parking at the Park Centre, Olympia Leisure Centre Boucher Road, Boucher Road and Boucher Crescent. As a community organisation Cumann Spoírt an Phobail are delighted to be involved and to the forefront of the “between the bridges run” which will take place on March 8th 2009. Cumann Spoírt an Phobail through its management committee have been a driving force in getting the run to this point. Following our calendar launch at Stormont in January of this year we approached Minister for Regional Development Conor Murphy and asked about the possibility of undertaking a 10k Race and 5K Fun Run/Walk to officially open the new road. To his credit Minister Murphy agreed with the idea and set the wheels in motion to make the idea a reality.

The approach to the event has been very deliberate in that we wanted a race for those wishing to compete. However and as importantly we wanted the event to be open to as many people in the community irrespective of ability/disability, race, colour or creed to participate in the event which is why we have included the 5K fun Run/Walk. We want to encourage as many people in the local West Belfast and Donegall Road/Village area to actively become involved with this event and turn out to participate in the event. All proceeds from the event will go to the NI Hospice.

Registration for the event will be available from 3rd Nov 2008.
